Let me guess, you're building your own algorithms on your server and want to draw the data from a broker server next to NYSE or Nasdaq and order flow back through the broker server accordingly?
SURPRISE!!! Most brokers actually offer API's to developers these days. Even retail Etrade & Ameritrade. You just have to know who to ask. A simple Google search for "Etrade API" or "Ameritrade API" gets you started. You're smart, you'll find what you are looking for from there, I'm sure. Good Luck with that algo!
