Real Stock Dummy

Hello,
I'm a first time investor and want to know if investing in marijuana penny stocks is worth it. I've been watching this particular marijuana stock for two weeks and it's been going up and down a few cents at a time. The stock is currently sitting at .24 and my idea was to throw in $500 "do or die". I'm not looking at this to get rich in two or three days, though that'd be nice, but more for the long term (3-12 mths). The company's i've been looking at (PHOT) has been around since 1980's supplying/selling hydroponics plant equipment and since marijuana has been taking off, i think that this may be where the money is. I know risky, but would like to hear some thoughts..

Why are you attracted to stocks you know are risky? Are you in financial difficulty? That is not usually the correct state to be in for making good trading decisions.
