Can anyone tell me why ex-dividend date is after pay date? it is really confusing me
12/12 was the one which is wrong.

It was a mistake nasdaq made and caused the market dropped. The news on 12/12 ex-div on nasdaq is long gone

Nasdaq Rule 11140(b)(2) ex-dividend date shall be the first business day following the payable date. if dividend is more than 25% of the share price.
12/12 one was a mistake on nasdaq news which makes people sell off, but giving the fact that they realize the error, soon the stock get back to right price.
