I tried finding a reason for the abrupt reversal @ 3.50 but couldn't find any minors or majors on any frames to signal such a move.

Seems like it was just typical late day sellers into a run especially near a psychological resistance level. .50/whole dollar areas act as magnets then reverse and test again. So now needs to break 3.50 tomorrow for continuation signal.
