What is a Long investment ?

Do you mean what does going "long" and "short" mean?

If you buy 100 shares of AAPL, you are said to be "Long AAPL". Buying stock (or options or ETFs, etc.) is a "Long Investment". However, if you don't own AAPL, you can borrow 100 shares and sell them. If you do that, you are said to be "Short AAPL". If you are short, you will at some point have to buy back the stock you sold so that you can return it to its rightful owner. The broker handles all of the borrowing and returning. You just click the Sell button.

So Long means that you have bought the investment, and you will probably sell it at some point to close the trade. Short means that you have sold the investment and will have to buy it back at some point to close the trade.
My new book is now available on Amazon. It teaches you my favorite trade for beginners. The pros use the same trade every day.
