I work for Home Depot and all I'm hearing from contractors coming in the store is that when things settle down in New Orleans they are going..

They are also talking about the casinos and how they are good projects to get into because each one takes two years to build..

This is the ground floor people. $25 Billion is what insurance companies are saying this is going to cost to rebuild. Who do you think is going to get that money? Builders and suppliers...

Wait until you start hearing about which companies get which contacts. thats when you see stocks start shooting.

re: contractors

Every good contractor I know is too busy to go down there and many who will don't have publicly held companies. It's hard to say who is going to pick up the ball and run with it, probably the mobile home companies to start with.

$25 Billion in possible insurance claims but...cbsmarketwatch article claims $100 Billion to rebuild the area. Its not just commercial buildings, housing, roads, etc. But they are probably going to have to look at the systems they have to protect themselves from other possible Hurricanes. They were grossly unprepared for a Hurricane of this strength.

I don't think big building contractors shop at Home Depot. I like the mobile home idea; who's the best of breed there?
